The Purpose Driven Life

This is classic. If you don't think that there's a battle between good and evil coming up, well, 06/06/06 is nearing so think again. And good and evil is purely subjective in this battle. There was a time when good meant doing what was best for everyone, to lift us all up and to make the species survive and stuff. But god, er Good, to those in power means stealing from the poor to feed the rich and propping up an empire that will control the oncoming chaos (that will manifest because those in power have been stealing from the poor to prop up the rich and to build and empire).

In my wildest paranoid dreams, I wholly suspect the Bushie Fundies to use that date to do something stupid and dangerous for everyone on the planet, and if they don't, perhaps the Fundie Muslims will see an opportunity and take it. We're in a battle of religions here, where the stupidest, most superstitious and insane people who listen to the voices in their heads have taken control of the weapons of mass destruction. The end of the world people are just SO PISSED that the end didn't come on schedule. Fuck, they even had the red cow or whatever all bred and ready. I thought the early 1900's generation was bad, but I'm beginning to miss them. At least they had some kind of boundaries. These Boomers have no such thing and they're so used to getting their way, that they don't give a fuck about any generation that comes along in their wake.

OK, I'm generalizing, sorry. I know some really cool Baby Boomer types.

It'd be so easy to just believe that you had the key to God and to win the prize. Seriously, is this yet another symptom of the Baby Booming Me Idiot Generation? Fuck, I'm so tired of those guys. First they brought us the 60s with their idealistic ideals. That was good, but they kind of lost it after that. They brought us disco and cocaine and horrible clothes in the 70s. Then they brought us the greed drenched 80s. Then they all watched their children grow up and leave in the 90s. Now they're all facing the gaping maw of mortality in the face, so they're hoping that their stupid, made up god (who blesses them because they're rich) comes back and takes them all to heaven on the clouds. I can't wait until they're all suffering from dementia and shitting their pants. (OK, not ALL of them. I just keep seeing the assholes who are screwing everything up for everyone else)

At least eventually my GenX friends will get miracle cures that all the Research and Development money will go to for the next 15 years. And we'll end up with all their property when they die off.

Yea, but we're safe here on the Left Coast. Sure. You believe that....

Andrew Sullivan http://time.blogs.com/daily_dish/2006/05/christianism_wa_3.html linked to http://www.talk2action.org/story/2006/5/29/195855/959::

Imagine: you are a foot soldier in a paramilitary group whose purpose is to remake America as a Christian theocracy, and establish its worldly vision of the dominion of Christ over all aspects of life. You are issued high-tech military weaponry, and instructed to engage the infidel on the streets of New York City. You are on a mission - both a religious mission and a military mission -- to convert or kill Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, gays, and anyone who advocates the separation of church and state - especially moderate, mainstream Christians. Your mission is "to conduct physical and spiritual warfare"; all who resist must be taken out with extreme prejudice. You have never felt so powerful, so driven by a purpose: you are 13 years old. You are playing a real-time strategy video game whose creators are linked to the empire of mega-church pastor Rick Warren, best selling author of The Purpose Driven Life.

The game, slated for release by October 2006 in advance of the Christmas shopping rush, has been previewed at video game exhibitions, and reviewed by major newspapers and magazines. But until now, no fan or critic has pointed out the controversial game's connection to Mr. Warren or his dominionist agenda.

And Andrew goes on to say at LaHaye's Anti-Christ

"I forgot to mention in my reference yesterday to the new "Left Behind" Christianist video game that the Anti-Christ has an identity. (I was joking about the Democratic nominee.) In the novels, which have sold over 65 million copies in the last ten years in America, the Anti-Christ is one Nicolae Carpathia, a Romanian who, after the Rapture, becomes head of the United Nations. An important detail:

Marilena's husband, Sorin, and his gay lover, Baduna Marius, provide genetic material to facilitate Nicolae's conception.

So gay people literally spawn Satan. No wonder Christianists want us eventually wiped off the face of the earth."

Of course, this video game comes from the profit driven people who brought you the Left Behind series www.leftbehindgames.com/. They are the right wing xtian counterparts to the people behind the Da vinci Code (Sony, who started a website to stir up rumours of spiritual warfare to get more people to go see the movie). Mammon has truly won out as the God of this generation.

..... sigh..... It seemed like we were evolving there for about 2 seconds in evolutionary time, didn't it?
